As of February 15 Gazpromneft-Aero again reduced jet fuel prices for Transaero Airlines at Russian airports. The price was cut by 500 rubles per ton. This move is not the first fuel price reduction in February. On February 9 Gazpromneft-Aero reduced prices for into-plane fuelling by about 1,000 rubles per ton and prior to this the company had imposed a moratorium on jet fuel price hikes, keeping them at January levels despite continuing growth of prices on international and domestic jet fuel markets.
Transaero has leveraged the fuel discount to reduce airfare on a number of domestic routes, primarily for flights to cities of the Far East, Siberia and the Urals. The proportional airfare reduction averages from 4 to 7% per ticket.
"Gazpromneft-Aero policy is aimed at supporting one of its strategic partners in an unstable situation on the Russian jet fuel market," said Gazpromneft-Aero General Director Vladimir Yegorov.
"For our company, it is essential that passengers benefit directly from the reduction of fuel cost,'' said Transaero General Director Olga Pleshakova. ''I am confident that the partnership between Transaero and Gazpromneft-Aero will continue to grow and develop.''
